Freelance web engineer in Japan. Building and running products with AI agents.

I am a freelance web engineer based in Japan. I have worked on the web for over twenty years and have been independent for more than ten of them.

What I do

My main work is web development, from business systems and corporate sites to small services for individuals. Alongside that I run several media sites, the oldest of which I have maintained for close to twenty years.

Since 2026 a large part of that work has moved through AI agents. Codex and Claude handle drafting, repository maintenance, bookkeeping preparation, and daily business reporting, while I keep the judgment calls. taupe is where I record what actually happened when I did that, including the parts that did not work.

Open source and products

I publish small tools that came out of running this setup, including codex-healthkit, a local health check CLI for Codex, and Public Source Extractor, a CLI for AI research workflows. All of it is on GitHub.

Earlier products included SiteHub, a link platform, and doloop, a habit tracking app. Both have since been discontinued, and the articles about them stay online as records of building and running them rather than as pointers to live services.

Working together

I take on consulting for AI workflow design, web development, and media operations. Details are on my official site.
